Pacific Harvest Kombu Leaves impart a subtler umami flavor to recipes than Kombu strips do. Kombu leaves are to wrap around fish or can be added to Dashi, broths, stocks, and soups.
Pacific Harvest Kombu Leaves are wild-harvested Ecklonia radiata seaweed blade, frond, or leaves. Sourced from the North Island of New Zealand’s pristine waters, mostly around the Gisborne and Wairarapa regions.
This deep-water variety of kelp has a naturally salty taste with a lower amount of sodium than salt. Importantly seaweed contains a broader range of naturally occurring minerals than salt.
Sustainably hand-harvested after a storm has naturally detached leaves from the kelp then washing them to shore. The Kombu leaves are then collected, washed in seawater, and carefully air-dried whole to maximize their nutritional value and then cut into strips.
Moreover this sea vegetable has a fine white powder dusting covering it. The white powder is glutamine a naturally occurring amino acid that boosts its flavour profile as well as gut health.
